Who We Are & Why We Do This Work
Project inMOTION was built on the belief that healing happens through experience, relationship, and care that meets you where you’re at.

Our Story
Why we created this practice
Project inMOTION was founded by Sara & Giana, two clinicians brought together by a shared belief that mental health care should feel more human, more accessible, and more connected to everyday life.
In their work, they saw what was missing. Traditional models often asked people to sit still, to explain, to fit into a process that didn’t always reflect how they actually experience the world. But healing isn’t confined to words. It lives in movement, in relationships, in the spaces where people feel safe enough to be fully seen.
Project inMOTION was created as a space where young people and families can show up as they are, without pressure to fix or rush. A space that honors identity, culture, and lived experience. A space that allows healing to unfold, rather than be forced.
The work is rooted in lived experience. From Sara’s journey through childhood illness and her lifelong relationship with dance, to Giana’s work building cheer community in New York City schools and creating spaces for connection through movement, their paths converge in a shared truth: healing happens in motion, in relationship, and in community.
The name reflects this philosophy.
Project speaks to purpose — to the ongoing, evolving nature of growth.
inMOTION reflects what connects us all: we are all movers, emotionally, physically, cognitively, and socially. Even in stillness, something within us is in motion.
Inclusion
We are committed to creating a space where all individuals feel welcomed, valued, and affirmed.
Cultural Responsiveness
We honor identity and lived experience in all that we do while maintaining cultural humility in practice.
Movement as Healing
We integrate the body into the therapeutic process because healing is not just cognitive. It's physical, emotional, and relational.
Relationship-Based Care
We believe the therapeutic relationship is itself the vehicle for change. Connection is not just a tool, it's the foundation.
Mission & Values
What we stand for
Our mission is to destigmatize mental health and wellness by making care visible, accessible, and human.
Accessibility
Making care available to diverse communities through sliding scale fees, insurance partnerships, and bilingual services.
Authenticity
We meet every person with curiosity, honesty, and care.
Empowerment
Our work is strengths-based. We help individuals and families discover what they are already capable of, and build from there.
Community
We believe wellness is built together, in relationship with others, with ourselves, and with the broader community around us.
Our Approach
More than talk therapy
At Project inMOTION, we draw from a range of evidence and practice based, relationship-centered frameworks to create individualized care that feels engaging, meaningful and supports the whole person.
Our interdisciplinary team collaborates to provide coordinated, thoughtful care while maintaining the highest standards of care. We believe that meaningful change happens when people feel safe, supported, and connected; so we build that foundation first.
We honor connection over perfection, recognizing that growth is not always linear. Small shifts moments of regulation, awareness, or connection, are just as meaningful as larger breakthroughs.
SEL — Social-Emotional Learning

DIR / Floortime
A developmental, relationship-based approach that meets children where they are and builds from their natural interests.
Play-Based Therapy
Using play as the primary language of children to build connection, communication, and emotional growth.
Movement Integration
Bringing the body into the healing process through somatic practices, sensory activities, and movement-based expression.
